Social Studies: Connecting With the World
Grade 3 students learn cardinal and intermediate directions to locate places on maps and globes and learn the terms hemisphere, poles and equator.
The curriculum provides opportunities to explore the diverse nature of four diverse communities around the world: India, Peru, Tunisia and Ukraine and. Students explore how common human needs are met and how they contribute to the quality of life. Students will enrich their awareness and appreciation of how people live in other places.
Students are also introduced to the concept of global citizenship.
