Music at Nose Creek

Welcome to Music at Nose Creek School

My name is Karlie Kenealey and I am the Music teacher at Nose Creek Elementary School. I am a graduate of the University of Lethbridge and in May of 2012 I completed my Masters of Education through the Rocky View cohort master degree program. I am passionate about music education and began studying piano at age 3. I hold my grade 9 Royal Ms. KConservatory certificate in piano as well as my grade 3 History and Harmony certificates. I have been teaching in Rocky View School Division since September of 2005 and have been teaching music at Nose Creek Elementary School since it's opening in 2006. As a born and raised Airdronian and a graduate of Airdrie's George McDougall High School, I am excited to have the opportunity to work in the district and community where I grew up.

Nose Creek Elementary School's Music program focuses on engaging the needs of 21st century learners within the music classroom in order to nurture the development of the whole child. Through the systematic development of musical skills, students will be encouraged to explore their own creative expression through performances, listening and composing. Students will learn about music and musicians of the past and present. They will also gain awareness and appreciation of a variety of music, including music from Canadian cultures as well as other cultures from around the world. Most importantly, students will be encouraged to enjoy music through a variety of meaningful musical activities.
