2F Social Studies Program.
Students develop a sense of identity and citizenship by learning about the differences and similarities between their own community and others in Canada.
We explore four communities in Canada so that students come to appreciate the variety of geography, climate, history, and culture that individuals in Canada experience.
Airdrie, Alberta
Iqaluit, Nunavut
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
Meteghan, Nova Scotia
We learn about the land, weather, and bodies of water in each part of the country. We also explore life in the early days of each community, gaining an understanding and appreciation of how a community emerged. We begin to develop an awareness of Canada as a multi-cultural country by learning about the specific cultures in each community. We discuss the present-day life of people living in other parts of Canada, and how it compares to life in our own community.
